 I understand where you are coming from, but I think that there's a bigger picture to look at. And I personally believe that when you adopt (not shop!) a cat or dog, and SPAY/NEUTER it, you are ultimately saving a) that animal's life, and b) more future babies that would just contribute to the overpopulation. There is an overpopulation of pets - dogs and cats specifically - due to the behavior of people and breeders. I'm not sure how it is around the world, but the number of homeless animals is definitely decreasing in the US. However, there are just so many people who buy dogs/cats, don't spay or neuter them, or adopt/shop dogs and cats and then just abandon them for dumb reasons. Home:  Shiftytee

  I mis-marketed myself. I am vegetarian, by Hindu beliefs, and do not eat eggs because I believe they count in the meat realm. However, I believe in the ethical receiving and consumption of animal goods, such as honey and milk. Plus... rehoming the cat would not mean any fewer animals would be killed to feed the cat. The cat already exists and has the best home it can, being fed already reputable brands. If you rehome the cat, there are chances it's new owner will not feed it as reputable brands. Like I can understand not getting another animal because you're vegan, but sorry it's too fucking late to object when you already have a pet.  In the long run, you're better off without her. She's doing mental gymnastics and using a movement that is supposed to focus on healthful cohabitation of humans and animals, to facilitate an idea that is unnatural to animal nature. If she does this now, AND kept that idea away from you for so long (something big like this did not occur overnight, likely, it's been stewing for a while), you don't know what else she could say or do, and then try to reason her way out of it.  Tell your Mom to leave a bad review on their website. My husband (then bf) did the same for me over a year ago, he sent me a full package of goodies, 3 months later he got the returned package on the mail and they started calling him saying they were going to charge him extra for returning the package to the origin-destination. He then refused any further payment and asked for his money back since it never reached its destination.  Yeah...I’m sort of imagining her not knowing what it was going to cost to ship, then deer in headlights and doubling down and going for it anyway when she found out. Sweet gesture, just really hard to justify that cost no matter what you make. Yes it sucks, and I don’t wanna be that guy, it was a nice gesture of your mom, but this sounds crazy expensive for some pizza and ice cream. Nope, we’re both from a small poor town in Ohio - she’s an out of work hairstylist due to COVID.  Well if she wants to mail again, I’d use a food saver to seal things, and dry ice (you could seal this too), it’s a wonderful gesture, UPS always screws up my packages too. They’ve only completely lost one, and they did reimburse me (I had insurance). The package just disappeared halfway to its destination. They refused to pay the insurance unless I could prove the value, unfortunately for them, it was an eBay sale, so they had to write me a check for the sale price and the shipping.
