So the conclusion from the journal is basically that more research is needed, but that it is a potentially viable approach. I'm not a biologist, so if it is impossible, then fair enough. That would be a good reason to not do it. But that doesn't seem to be what the research is saying. And to be fair the grant wasn't just here's money to train your dog to detect COVID-19. It was here's money from a grant to fund research into whether dogs can be used to detect COVID-19 and other diseases that their organization could have received money to participate in partnership with actual scientists as part of a research study. I'm still legitimately trying to understand why that would be a bad use of money.

 Once they get off the island, they have a lot more “fame” (for lack of a better word) than they had going in. If people didn’t like them while they were on the show, they’ll definitely hear about it once they get out since a lot of the Islanders have public social media accounts. I think the poster you replied to meant that a normal person (as normal as one can be to sign up for a show like this) getting thrust into the spotlight after getting off the show is not something someone can prepare for.  Whilst I agree that the contestants on Love Island need more support after leaving the villa as they get plunged into a world they have never experienced before, it’s crazy and overwhelming and extremely intense. I don’t think you can chalk this one up to Love Island, she wasn’t a contestant and this wasn’t her first TV work. I’m not denying that fame can be brutal especially with all the critique that comes with it, I just don’t think that Love Island was part of the cause here. This was a woman struggling with her own personal demons that were magnified to an extent she could only see one option. Extremely sad and heartbreaking. Well from Wikipedia it's defined as follows: "test sensitivity is the ability of a test to correctly identify those with the disease (true positive rate), whereas test specificity is the ability of the test to correctly identify those without the disease (true negative rate)." I remember reading that most of the dogs in US airports are actually sniffing for bomb-making chemicals and not drugs. It depends where in the airport you are at. At TSA, when going through security before departure they are explosive sniffing dogs. But at custom, when re-entering the country from overseas they are drug-sniffing dogs. Then also, some airports let local police come walk around more or less anywhere passengers are.
