Bear mace is fine for grizzlies, grizzlies are pretty good at avoiding people. You don't need a very expensive rifle and ammo to take down a grizzly bear but hunting is very different from predator defense. From what I've seen on Facebook posts, 12ga slugs for dealing with polar bears but firing warning shots is normally enough to get them out of your general area. Shotguns aren't that expensive and are fairly common. The Rangers now are using 7.62x51 for their patrols so that's probably fine for a polar bear and even though they are using an expensive rifle to fire that, you can find a much cheaper .308/7.62x51 rifles. Most likely they just fire at the ground around the bear to get rid of it but I'm not a ranger so I do not know what they're bear defense protocol is.

I moved here for my now wife and seeing the way people act has got me wishing to go back to Europe. I loved it here before people started showing blind faith in someone so wrong so often. I dunno, I think everyone should be raised to be like that in a sense, granted I think people should be able to ask for help if they need it. I don't think it is healthy to suffer a tragedy and break when you could be trying to make things better.bI am not implying that people shouldn't feel emotions, nor should they bury them, but you can feel pain and sadness and try to be a useful human at the same time. If you go overseas they are also likely sniffing for cash. I’ve seen a few of them and have even been a plant for one while they were training it while getting on a plane. You're right, Customs has a lot of various detector dogs for the various products that can be brought into the country, beyond just their cash dogs and drug dogs. They also have a surprisingly high number of dogs that sniff for animal and plant smuggling (both live specimens and products derived from them), which I think are my favorite. I love picturing a dog just having his job be to look for fruits and veg and such. The hardest thing I've ever done was not pat that little dog in its vest.
