Likely it'll be spooked off by a gunshot if it's still checking you out, and a big wound will almost certainly send any bear running. The only times I've ever heard of any type of bear not being scared off by a loud blast is when they are either sick or starving. There hasn't been a polar bear attack in Alaska since 1993 because they ward them off and keep them away from population centers with active patrols

I moved here for my now wife and seeing the way people act has got me wishing to go back to Europe. I loved it here before people started showing blind faith in someone so wrong so often. I dunno, I think everyone should be raised to be like that in a sense, granted I think people should be able to ask for help if they need it. I don't think it is healthy to suffer a tragedy and break when you could be trying to make things better.bI am not implying that people shouldn't feel emotions, nor should they bury them, but you can feel pain and sadness and try to be a useful human at the same time. If you go overseas they are also likely sniffing for cash. I’ve seen a few of them and have even been a plant for one while they were training it while getting on a plane. You're right, Customs has a lot of various detector dogs for the various products that can be brought into the country, beyond just their cash dogs and drug dogs. They also have a surprisingly high number of dogs that sniff for animal and plant smuggling (both live specimens and products derived from them), which I think are my favorite. I love picturing a dog just having his job be to look for fruits and veg and such. The hardest thing I've ever done was not pat that little dog in its vest.
