Truth be told, she didn't think she would be able to carry to term, but she surprisingly does with minimal complications. Baby arrives and wife has severe PPD that only subsides when mental health medications were drastically changed and dosages substantially increased. She loves her child to an unbelievable degree now, BUT it took a really long time to get there. The baby was never in danger per se; wife/mother was just operating in pilot mode and DGAF. The problem? The husband declares another "biological child" will occur despite his wife's mental health controlled via prescriptions unsuitable for pregnancy. I don't have an answer for you but this story gives me the chills because I have severe PMDD and mental health problems, so it is nearly guaranteed I will have really bad post-partum depression and/or psychosis. I'm also a pediatrician and I love babies.

Another strange tale from the arctic regions: Many years ago my dad was working on an engineering project in Kangerlussuaq - the location of Greenland's biggest airport. Since hotel accommodation was limited he was staying at the US Air Base Sodrestrom next to the airport. The first night he was there someone at the base invited him to the bar on the base. It was only a short walk, but the guy insisted they drove. After some pretty heavy drinking, my dad expected them to walk back, but the locals insisted on taking the car. Just as they got into the car, military police showed up and asked what they were doing. Same. Although I didn’t get to do much gaming during my treatments... my chemo and immunotherapy regimen required Benadryl so I slept during a good portion of my treatment time. I guess it’s just not something that I ever really thought about before, but it’s really cool to know there are so many other people out there like myself that have gone through this and bond over gaming. If I remember correctly it’s a reference to the founding myth of Rome. There’s a response where the wishes say “kill it” or something to that effect. The right answer is “thanks” it recalls the mother wolf who keeps her child safe with her mouth.
