I didn't find it took too much of a toll on my life when my kid was little - I mean, I kept most of my social life (although the hours changed drastically) and I never saw my wife anymore, but... it worked. Our baby was super needy and took a long time to solo sleep, so we basically divided the day in half and dealt with EVERYTHING for 12 hours, and slept or tried to be "out" for the other 12 (we were in process of moving overseas so we had a lot of things to get done). I still think I got the easy shift, 7-7 because although he didn't sleep much, at least I didn't have to deal with other people at the same time. it's the lack of a break that gets you. My introduction to parenting was siring twin girls, 2-1/2 now. Wife and I make sure to rotate shifts daily to avoid burn out, and we each get a free day every week.

I moved here for my now wife and seeing the way people act has got me wishing to go back to Europe. I loved it here before people started showing blind faith in someone so wrong so often. I swear so many people I thought were good people have shown me just how little they care for anyone other than themselves. I feel more sorry for my wife seeing it in people she has known her whole life. Oh also how batshite crazy things from Facebook they believe I started off trying to show them other facts but have just given up now as they believe Martha with her flawless logic not the scientific community. I dunno, I think everyone should be raised to be like that in a sense, granted I think people should be able to ask for help if they need it. I don't think it is healthy to suffer a tragedy and break when you could be trying to make things better.bI am not implying that people shouldn't feel emotions, nor should they bury them, but you can feel pain and sadness and try to be a useful human at the same time. If you go overseas they are also likely sniffing for cash. I’ve seen a few of them and have even been a plant for one while they were training it while getting on a plane. You're right, Customs has a lot of various detector dogs for the various products that can be brought into the country, beyond just their cash dogs and drug dogs. They also have a surprisingly high number of dogs that sniff for animal and plant smuggling (both live specimens and products derived from them), which I think are my favorite. I love picturing a dog just having his job be to look for fruits and veg and such. The hardest thing I've ever done was not pat that little dog in its vest.
