Another strange tale from the arctic regions: Many years ago my dad was working on an engineering project in Kangerlussuaq - the location of Greenland's biggest airport. Since hotel accommodation was limited he was staying at the US Air Base Sodrestrom next to the airport. The first night he was there someone at the base invited him to the bar on the base. It was only a short walk, but the guy insisted they drove. After some pretty heavy drinking, my dad expected them to walk back, but the locals insisted on taking the car. Just as they got into the car, military police showed up and asked what they were doing.
